The league is scheduled to return on Saturday 27 August after the short break
Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women's side Zetech Sparks are set to resumes training next week with coach Maurice Obilo keen to guide his charges in the quest for a maiden title.
The tactician maintains that the short break occasioned by the general elections will not have done alot of damage to the team's form or fitness as all teams have been on the same break.
However, the coach has called on the side not to be complacent in how they approach the upcoming matches as they have a target on their back following their impeccable performance of six straight wins.
"Before the break, the team was in a good place and they had picked some very crucial wins. I am confident that they will not require alot of work upon resumption as we had worked on our fitness properly before the season commenced. Within a week, they should be back to their pre-break form," said Obilo.
Scheduled to face University of Nairobi Dynamites in their first match after the break, the team will have the services of experienced Debra Obunga who had missed three of their matches, including their win against former champions Equity Hawks.
"She (Debra) was away for national team duties but has since rejoined the squad. She was part of the squad that faced off with Eldonets away and her experience on the floor is definitely welcome.
However, her absence was a blessing as the younger players got the chance to be in charge of the floor and they stepped up and delivered.
I keep urging them not yo be carried away by what they have achieved so far and yo keep working to get better. The slightest of slip ups could see us drop crucial points to the unlikeliest of opponents," he offered.
Last season, the side managed a third-place finish after losing in the best-of-five playoff semis to former champions Hawks. At the time, Obilo pinned the outcome partly on lack of experience.
"Most of my players were still very new to the top tier league last season and they gave their all. We gave all equal chances to play and the experience gained is paying off as they have come of age and are showing alot of maturity," Obilo added.
The side is currently second on the log, behind holders Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) who are also yet to drop points.
